TRY IT TUESDAY: Travel and Tourism Career Exploration
Ever wondered who helps decide what people see, do, and eat when they visit a city—or how a downtown becomes a destination?
Join us for Try-It Tuesday with the Statesville Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB)—a hands-on career exploration experience where you’ll step behind the scenes of tourism, hospitality, and economic development right here in Statesville.
You’ll kick things off at the Statesville Historical Collection, where you’ll learn how history, culture, and storytelling play a key role in attracting visitors. Then, enjoy a guided tour of downtown Statesville to see how local shops, restaurants, events, and attractions work together to create a place people want to visit—and return to.
Along the way, you’ll explore career paths in hospitality, tourism, sales and marketing, and economic development, and learn how these roles support local businesses and the community. This is your chance to experience it like a visitor—not just hear about it in a classroom.
To make the experience even better, students who attend may receive food discounts or vouchers to enjoy local downtown spots.
If you’re curious about travel, marketing, events, history, or people-focused careers, this is your opportunity to try it out and see what’s possible.
