Financial Aid Information

The 1st step in the financial aid process is to create an FSA ID in order to complete a FAFSA
Make an FSA ID through studentaid.gov
Can you include the FSA ID creation video I sent?
It is best to do this several days before trying to complete the FAFSA, verification takes 1-3 days

“Better FAFSA” opens on 12/31/23

Once the FAFSA is available, use your FSA ID to sign in at studentaid.gov
Make sure you are completing the correct FAFSA
- Most students will graduate in Spring 2024 and begin college in Fall 2024, they should complete the 2024-2025 “Better FAFSA”

If a student plans to graduate early (December 2023) and begin college in either the spring 2024 or summer 2024, they should complete the 2023-2024 FAFSA and the 2024-2025 “Better FAFSA”
To complete the 2024-2025 “Better FAFSA”, the student should login with their FSA ID first and begin the application. They will be prompted to invite 1 or both of their parents to complete the application. Each parent will need their own FSA ID in order to login and complete the application. The last contributor to complete the application will submit the FAFSA.
It is important to note that the 2024-2025 “Better FAFSA” has a ‘consent page’ at the beginning of the application. ALL CONTRIBUTORS MUST AGREE TO CONSENT IN ORDER FOR A STUDENT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL AID. You are consenting to let the IRS share your information with the Department of Education. If you decline to consent, you will still be able to advance and manually key in your 2022 tax return information. However, even if you key in the information and submit, you are NOT eligible for federal aid until all contributors have agreed to give consent.

Section for contributors with no Social Security Numbers

A student MUST have a social security number to be eligible for federal aid (citizen or eligible non-citizen)
If the student has a SSN, a parent does not need to have one to be eligible
When creating an FSA ID, a parent with no SSN will select the ‘Parent does not have a social security number’ option. To complete FSA ID creation, the parent will need to answer additional questions and/or submit requested documentation. When that parent completes their FAFSA,
