SUMMARY:In-Person Academy and Parent Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This in-person Academy session is for Crosby Scholars students and their parents! \nEach year students are required to complete at least one Academy. The deadline for completion is April 30\, 2025. There are several options to complete this task/requirement\, including attending this in-person event at Mitchell Community College’s Statesville Campus. \nFOR STUDENTS:Middle Schoolers will choose between one of two sessions:1. Setting Goals: Students will look at different types of goals\, learn the value of goal setting\, and create a vision board for their goals OR2. Weird Careers: Students will explore unique careers\, complete an inventory of their interests\, and create a business card for their future career \nHigh Schoolers will be split into 9th and 10th grade sessions:1. The 9th grade session will include communication skills\, the importance of high school activities\, how to be a GPA ninja\, and time management techniques.2. The 10th grade session will include a personality profile focused on career choices\, opportunities to gain experience now\, opportunities to explore colleges\, and test prep techniques. \nStudents will also complete a community service project\, a requirement for Crosby Scholars each year. \nFOR PARENTS:1. The first parent session will feature Dr. Jane Riley\, Mitchell Community College High School Counselor\, to share information about all three early college programs and the application process.2. DESCRIPTION:Crosby Scholars is participating in the Harmony Holiday Parade on December 1.  The first 50 students to sign up and come to the parade will get a free sweatshirt.  When you sign up\, please put your student name and sweatshirt size. \nDrop off Students between 12:30 -1pm at Harmony Elementary School.  We will decorate a trailer and hand out sweatshirts. \nREGISTER FOR THIS EVENT IN SIGN UP GENIUS \n\nPARADE ROUTE/PARKING/STUDENT DROP-OFF & PICK-UP: \nStreets close at 1:30 PM and parade begins at 2 PM (all of Hwy 21 will be blocked off in both directions) \nParade Route: Harmony Elementary to Rosewood Assisted Living Home  –  Hwy 21 \nDrop-Off/Pick-Up: Rosewood Assisted Living Home – HWY 21 – We have no way of knowing what order we will be in the parade.  We suggest you drop off your student and then make your way to the pick up location prior to the roads closing.  This way you will be at the end of the parade when we arrive. \nPlease Note: Timing is contingent on our place in the parade.  We will not know that until the day of the parade.  Please be patient as we work through all of the details.  We are trying to make sure we participate in parades all over the county and this year we have selected a parade in Northern Iredell County.  You will earn Community Service Hours for participating.
